Dear Perceval user,
As previously communicated, Perceval accounts will be supported as Amarel Open Access accounts effective 03/01/20. In order to continue your work without interruption, please review the following guidance.
- Direct login to perceval.rutgers.edu is no longer available. Please log into amarel.rutgers.edu. The location of your /home and /scratch data remains unchanged and you can continue your work as you did when logging directly into Perceval. Your applications will continue to work as they did on Perceval.
- You should be aware that Amarel Open Access jobs run in the MAIN partition and are pre-emptible by default. This means that your jobs may be terminated if the resources they are using are required by individuals and organizations owning Amarel assets. You can avoid this situation by requesting that your job run in Amarel’s non-pre-emptible partition. The trade-off is likely to be longer queue times before your jobs start. Advice regarding using pre-emptible and non-pre-emptible partitions is contained in the links below.
- Please review https://oarc.rutgers.edu/perceval/ for a review of previously communicated information and guidance for continuity using Amarel Open Access.
Although you should not encounter any functional differences between Perceval and Amarel, https://sites.google.com/view/cluster-user-guide an abundance of detailed information for general and more advanced use of Amarel. - Do not hesitate to contact us at help@oarc.rutgers.edu with any questions you may have now and in the future. And, of course, contact me should you have additional questions.
Regards,
Les
