Caliburn Users,

The June 1 – Nov 30 allocation period has ended and last week’s extension of service for this allocation period has also ended. We hope you’ve been able to make significant progress on your projects, make discoveries, or build a foundation for future investigation. It’s important to OARC that your experience with using Caliburn has been a good one. Please share any feedback you may have.

With the end of this allocation period, Caliburn is now officially no longer available for computing and all projects not continuing with renewals into the next allocation period must be removed from the system. Storage directories and user accounts associated with those projects will be purged before the next allocation period begins on January 1.

Caliburn will be offline for maintenance starting at 10:00 am ET on Tuesday, December 8. If you have not already removed your data, logging-in to Caliburn for data egress will be possible after this maintenance is complete (most likely Friday, December 11). We’ll send a follow-up announcement when access to the system is available again.

If you are having trouble removing your data from the system, let us know ASAP.

Please delete data that you have successfully moved so it will be easier for us to identify “stragglers” within Caliburn’s storage system.

Special note: We are working to minimize the full December inter-allocation maintenance task list, which means we may be able to provide limited access to compute resources between December 11 and 31. The timeframe cannot be guaranteed because maintenance may require more time than expected. Also, since Caliburn is officially not in service during this time, user support and infrastructure support will not be available. So, the “lights will be on” but users must work independently if they wish to use the system during this time.

Caliburn Users,

The allocation period scheduled to end today (November 30) has been extended through December 6 to enable additional time for active projects.

At a minimum, we are expecting Caliburn to be offline for 2 days during the week of December 7-11. Caliburn may be offline longer, but we are working to minimize the time when the system will be unavailable.

The maintenance window between the current allocation period and the next one starting January 1 will not require as much maintenance work as anticipated, so we are coordinating with our infrastructure team to keep Caliburn available in production mode for additional days. Once the specific dates when Caliburn must be offline are determined, we will send an update regarding Caliburn’s availability between these allocation periods.
