Research Computing Users,

The Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC, http://it.rutgers.edu/oarc) is finalizing plans to purchase a number of consumer GPU servers that will be added to the Amarel cluster. We’re sharing this information with the research community in case anyone is interested in taking advantage of this unusual opportunity to buy-in to the cluster (i.e., become an Amarel “owner”).

8x NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti Graphics Cards (GPUs)
2x Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors (12x 2.1 GHz cores, 16.5 MB cache)
12x 16 GB DDR4-2666MHz REG/ECC Memory Modules (192GB Total)
2x Samsung PM983 960 GB NVMe SSDs (OS Drives)
4x Segate 2 TB Enterprise HDDs (Storage Drives)
4 year warranty

About Ownership:
– Amarel owners (e.g., individuals, departments, institutes) always have dedicated, immediate access to purchased resources
– Buying-in to Amarel with our standard 4-year ownership plan is considered an equipment purchase with no indirect costs
– Extremely low pricing is achieved through multi-vendor negotiations and OARC provides administration, power, cooling, rack space, network access
